In this case, the evasive New Jersey-based software company had failed to pay our local Massachusetts software company, virtually any of the licensing fees, which it had committed to pay via contract and in many broken promises. Once our client’s patience was finally exhausted, they came to us. We responded by filing suit in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. In response, the defendant brought in the “Big Law Firm,” so litigation ensued over the next 2 years. After pursuing the defendant with the extensive written discovery documents and winning several motions in court, Jantzen & Associates was approached by the “Big Law Firm” to mediate the case. It was set down before a retired Judge for mediation in Federal Court, where Jantzen & Associates was quite familiar with the process.
Eventually, an agreement to pay the full amount plus attorney’s fees was reached, and entered in the form of a judgment. Further complications arose leading to the eventual withdrawal of the “Big Law Firm” from the case.
