In January 2026, Jantzen & Associates assisted a local corporation and its corporate president, before U.S. District Court Judge Casper, in representing the victim/corporation’s viewpoint and damages, after a pernicious, long term embezzlement by the trusted bookkeeper, Marie Hobson. The firm extensively prepared the company’s president for his eventual presentation of their Victim Witness Impact Statement, at the sentencing hearing before Judge Casper, resulting in an 18 month sentence for Ms. Hobson, in addition to a $511,000 restitution award, collectively.
Attorney Chris Jantzen worked closely with the company president, the U.S. Attorney and the Victim Impact Department to lobby for this righteous sentence, given the magnitude of the fraud/embezzlement. Interestingly, Marie Hobson actually used some of the stolen money to buy Golf club memberships! For her crime, she will spend the next 18 months in prison and the firm will continue to pursue restitution.
